QA Experience
January – February 2021, volunteer tester for Gunfire Reborn, about 13 hours (16 bugs reported)
December 2020, volunteer tester for Pencil Fantastic, about five hours
December 2019, volunteer tester for Dreadlands, about 50 hours
Up-to-date student of QA Bootcamp, an ongoing series of videos designed to train game testers. Took notes on over 135 minutes of video lessons. Learned to apply Problem – Action – Location techniques (PAL) when writing bug reports, how to do thorough exploratory testing, and many other QA tips.
Bug Report Example – Gunfire Reborn
UI Bug – “Discard” UI element is still displayed after discarding a weapon
In the weapons section of the tab menu, if you hover over a weapon slot, right-click several times, and then briefly hold the right mouse button for a little bit and let go before the discard action finishes, the pulsating UI element that says “discard” will linger. Rapidly right-clicking 5-10 times on a weapon slot will replicate this bug.
It’s possible to create multiple lingering “discard” animations that overlap one another by doing this multiple times. The bug works on both weapon slots.
When you replicate this bug, the circular bar that fills up during the animation will be stuck in place. It can be stuck at different progress levels, but is usually less than one-fourth full.
Closing and opening the tab menu will not resolve this bug and neither will unequipping and equipping a gun, but it will reduce the bug from multiple instances per weapon slot to one instance per weapon slot. Loading a new room seems to entirely resolve this bug.

(I am worried I wasn’t concise enough, however, I opted to give as much context as I could despite the length!)
Bug Report Example – Pencil Fantastic
Graphics Bug – Draw Before Session Begins
In Free Draw, you can draw in the air as the pencil falls just before a session begins.
When you start a new session, or click the “restart” button, and click the mouse just after the game begins to fade in from a white screen, you’ll leave a descending trail in the air.

Below is a list of bug reports for Gunfire Reborn. I create my bug reports in Jira before sending them off to the developers.

Please see my blog post “The value of test cases” for more details on the QA work I’ve done on Gunfire Reborn and an additional bug report example.
